Grandmaster Flash / Huey Morgan and Norman Jay
Grandmaster Flash (USA) – You can’t be wrong if you think Grandmaster Flash a.k.a. Joseph Saddler is the pioneer of modern hip-hop music, as the whole genre would be different without him.
He really is the grandmaster of mixing and scratching, and his band, the Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five was the first hip-hop act ever to be inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame.
Huey Morgan (USA, fun lovin criminals) – Huey Morgan started his career as a coke dealer and a car thief, and some say, he even joined the Marines, but others claim it’s only a legend. After the rough start, he acclaimed worldwide success as the frontman of Fun Loving Criminals, and currently he’s touring as a solo act.
Norman Jay MBE (UK, dj legend) – Norman Jay often simply calls himself a house DJ, but in his music he frequently uses soul and funk, too. He jumped into the world of turntables at the age of eight, and he hasn’t stopped jamming ever since. From the illegal warehouse parties he has ended up in the BBC. He was also awarded MBE by the British Government.
Watching these three legends on a Hungarian stage is a rare experience itself, but this event goes even further. On this evening everyone can witness Grandmaster Flash and the others do their magic with their records and the decks, thanks to the three huge screens placed above the stage. So, besides the fat grooves, you’ll get a DJ seminar and a brief history of hip hop - all in one evening.
