Since its formation in 2014, Erdling has become one of the leading figures in German-language dark metal. They are continuing the tour for their seventh album, Mana, which is dense in atmosphere and strong in concept, and are bringing it to Budapest this year.

Formed in 2016, Broken By The Scream is a Japanese idol group part of the “kawaii metal” wave, whose music blends cute J-Pop melodies with the most extreme growling and screaming deathcore elements in a strikingly unique and surreal way. Their concerts, which blend choreographed dance moves with headbanging, first garnered attention at home and later on an international level. They first visited Europe in 2024, and by the following year they were already being invited to prestigious metal festivals; on this year’s tour, in addition to club shows, they will also perform at the Wacken Open Air and Reload festivals. Following the release of their fourth studio album, *Solar Strain*, last year, they were signed by the legendary Metal Blade Records.

This will be their first time in Budapest, and they’ll be performing at the Dürer Kert’s small venue to show the local audience why their fan base is growing worldwide.

A metal celebration is coming to Budapest: Periphery and Within Destruction concert in Budapest.

One of the most defining bands of progressive metal, Periphery, returns to Budapest to take the stage at Dürer Kert on August 3. The evening’s special guest will be Slovenia’s Within Destruction, bringing together two distinctly different yet boundary-pushing representatives of modern metal for one night.
Both bands are already familiar to Hungarian audiences, and following their previous performances in Hungary, they are returning with an even stronger, up-to-date production. Over the past nearly two decades, Periphery has risen to the forefront of the genre, thanks to their technical precision, complex song structures, and constant evolution. Since their 2010 debut album, they have steadily gained international recognition, with extensive touring, three appearances in the Billboard Top 25, and a total of nine albums released so far.

The GRAMMY®-nominated quintet - Misha Mansoor (guitar), Jake Bowen (guitar), Matt Halpern (drums), Spencer Sotelo (vocals), and Mark Holcomb (guitar) - is now presenting a new direction. This tour marks a particularly important milestone in their career, as their upcoming album, A Pale White Dot, is set to be released on May 15, much to the delight of fans. According to the band, the record will be one of their most cohesive and honest works to date, exploring themes of loneliness and human relationships, while musically elevating their signature complex sound to a new level. This atmosphere is expected to define their latest material as well, making the Budapest concert not only a return, but also the introduction of a new era to the Hungarian audience.
Opening the night, Within Destruction has evolved from deathcore roots into a unique sound infused with electronic and anime influences, which both divides and excites their fans. BAEST brings its “Ozzy death metal” sound to Dürer Kert

The Danish band BAEST is one of Europe’s most promising metal acts, and with their album Colossal, released last year, they made a huge leap toward international recognition. Their explosive, often genre-bending music is described simply as “Ozzy death metal” and we’ll soon be able to hear exactly what that means live on September 24 at Dürer Kert.

The Danish five-piece was formed in Aarhus in 2015, and has evolved from an emerging death metal act into a boundary-pushing band that bridges multiple genres. Their discography includes Danse Macabre (2018), Venenum (2019), Necro Sapiens (2021), and last year’s Colossal (2025), which brought them their breakthrough. The album, produced by Tue Madsen (The Haunted), earned international acclaim for its blend of classic heavy metal, rock-driven energy, and progressive elements. Metal Hammer Germany even named Colossal “Album of the Month,” calling it a “colossal achievement.”

BAEST’s reputation is largely built on their overwhelming live performances. They haven’t been sitting still: the band has played more than 350 shows and shared the stage with acts such as Arch Enemy, Fit For An Autopsy, Krisiun, Abbath, and Entombed A.D., among many others. They have also performed at festivals including Wacken Open Air, Bloodstock, Kaltenbach, and Copenhell.

Their growing international reputation is further proven by the fact that their songs have been streamed millions of times, and they have received several professional accolades, including five GAFFA Awards (one of Scandinavia’s most prestigious music awards). With Colossal, BAEST has stepped beyond genre boundaries, creating what they call “Ozzy death metal”: a catchy, riff-driven yet often boundary-pushing sound.

In recent years, BAEST has become one of Scandinavia’s most innovative and promising metal bands, and now it’s time for audiences “down south” to pay closer attention. From Monday to Thursday, the city is getting filled with beer-related and professional events (tap takeovers, meet the brewer events, expo day, opening party), with the main, unlimited TASTING SESSIONS (with after parties) on the 21st and 22nd of May at Dürer Kert and the ENCORE day on the 23rd of May on the very same spot!

Business as usual: the brewers are pouring their beers themselves between 2pm and 8pm each day, during and after the tasting sessions we are offering once again free live concerts, we'll be presenting you expanding street food options and of course the venue is family- and dog friendly.

Following their sold-out concert on a boat earlier this year, HÆNESY will take the stage again on October 23, 2026, to return with a production that is more comprehensive than ever before and marks the beginning of a new era. The band will present its latest full-length album, *Esentia*—set for release in the fall of 2026 via Fractions of Life Records—with the stable, proven lineup that has been in place since 2021’s *Garabontzia*.

The new songs will not be presented as a separate set but will be organically woven into the show: the material from ‘Esentia’ will run throughout the concert, gradually integrating into the existing structures—thus blending new and older tracks into a unified yet constantly evolving soundscape. This evening is not a classic concert experience, but rather an intense, multi-layered musical journey, where the sound and visual elements work in harmony to create an otherworldly atmosphere.

Formed in Szeged in 2017 but now based in the capital, BORU has been forging its own path for nearly a decade on the border between sludge, doom, and post-metal, consistently making their sound unmistakable through avant-garde experimentation and a unsettling atmosphere drawn from motifs of Hungarian film and folklore. The backbone of their first club concert of the year will be material from their latest full-length album, *SELF-DEALER*, released in 2024, supplemented by guest musicians and perhaps even a few new songs that haven’t been heard yet.

Their performance explores the question of how we perceive reality from various perspectives: through what filters do we view the world around us, and to what extent can our own truths be considered objective? Slowly unfolding, weighty themes and eerie, cinematic soundscapes come together in a performance that is both unsettling and captivating. It is not merely a succession of songs, but a dense, swirling sonic journey where noise, silence, and constant transformation are all part of the same kaleidoscopic whole.

After nearly a year and a half, BLACK PARTICLES—a band that defies categorization and is compulsively, yet not self-servingly, labeled simply as “post-everything”—is once again performing a club concert. The backbone of the Budapest-based quartet’s set will consist of new songs written during this period, as well as selected tracks from their album *a path in entropy*, which was released on vinyl this spring and sold out in just a few hours.

As an instrumental band, they speak the language of dynamics to address scientific and philosophical questions: both the fragile, floating silence and the listener are engulfed by a performance of elemental power, built from the fundamental elements of black/voidgaze, post-rock, and metal. This sweeping stage production is currently one of the most exciting and visceral concert experiences in the Hungarian underground scene.

It’s TRVE if it’s KVLT – Authenticity and Norm-Setting in Metal

Kata Dóra Kiss, János Fejes, Antal Gergely Dér, and Márk Dávid Takáts discuss issues of authenticity in metal subcultures. Why has the question of authenticity become so important in various metal scenes, and whose interests and perspectives have shaped its contours? Is there such a thing as “real” metal, and if so, what should it be like? The discussion explores the issues of authenticity found in metal subcultures from the perspectives of cultural theory and sociology.

The renewed Haken returns to Budapest.

Haken are one of the most exciting bands in progressive metal, known for their epic songs and breathtaking live performances. The band last played a sold-out show in Budapest in 2023, and on September 29 they return to Dürer Kert with a renewed lineup.
Earlier this year, Haken announced the departure of guitarist 
Charlie Griffiths and bassist Conner Green from the band. 

Alongside the news of the split, they also revealed that new music would be arriving soon. Now they have released their first new song, titled In a Fever Dream. The track is the band’s first new material since their 2023 album Fauna. The song was produced by George Lever, who has also worked with Loathe and Sleep Token.
In a Fever Dream perfectly captures the atmospheric yet technically sophisticated sound that has become the band’s trademark, while also signaling the start of a new chapter. This fall, Haken will take this new era on stage across Europe, performing new compositions alongside their classics. Once again, we can expect a concert of elemental power from Haken on September 29 at Dürer Kert. Tickets go on sale June 5 at 10 a.m. on www.livenation.hu and www.funcode.hu.

Formed in 1986, the legendary Mexican death metal band Cenotaph - one of the pioneers of devastating Latin American metal - will flood Dürer Kert with their dark, raw and truly authentic old-school death metal. Following their EPs from the 1980s, they perfected their sound with four albums in the 1990s and early 2000s; whilst their music became increasingly intense, their lyrics delved into ever deeper themes and concepts. The band has been active again since 2023 with a new line-up, touring and playing festivals non-stop; whilst preparing their new album, they’re heading to Europe, where they won’t stop wreaking havoc until they reach the Killtown Deathfest.

Cryptworm (UK)

Founded in 2014 by Tibor Hanyi and Joe Knight, Cryptworm is undoubtedly one of the most active and most rotten acts on the international underground death metal scene of the past decade. Not to mention that the band, with its Hungarian roots, is also one of the most exciting and groundbreaking in the underground scene. Following their highly successful second album and an extensive tour, their third full-length album has been released via Me Saco Un Ojo Records and Extremely Rotten Productions; it’s more vicious and rotten than ever, pushing the boundaries of the genre even further in terms of extremity.

VÉR

The first Hungarian support act will be VÉR, who play Kripta-style death metal. Their relentless, old-school death metal grinds away like a living-dead machine as they march forward. The band are also signed to Me Saco Un Ojo Records; following the international festival season, they’re about to embark on a European album-launch tour, but until then, you’ll be able to hear plenty of new tracks from their forthcoming full-length album, which is currently in its final stages of production.

RETORSION

The second local support act, Retorsion - the Hungarian voice of Repulsion, those senseless, raging, corpse-devouring grindcore beasts - will also be making an appearance at the gig. Having recently toured America and Europe with their album, released by Headsplit Records amongst others, they show no signs of slowing down - quite the opposite, in fact. Guaranteed to leave you rotting alive amidst mountains of neck-breaking blast beats.
